Portrait GlamorizationPortrait glamorization, the process of transforming torn, faded or part-missing photos into brilliant looking digital images, gives them that professional touch. Portrait photos can be glamorized by adjusting saturation, color, contrast, and brightness. Captured pictures often need basic enhancements such as red eye removal, cropping, and aligning to look more professional.

Techniques used for Image Enhancement

The techniques commonly used for glamorizing photographs or portraits are:

  • Background Insertion/Removal: Sometimes, the principal focus of the image is lost with distracting background elements. The dramatic effect of the image can be enhanced by removing or replacing the background with a suitable background element.
  • Color Cast Correction: Certain types of light such as tungsten light, fluorescent light, or faded light can creates unwanted color casts in digital images. This is corrected.
  • Color Correction: In order to provide portraits with an appealing look, they should be given proper colors. Color correction processes include restoring, and balancing color of the image along with controlling the brightness and contrast of the image.
  • Density Correction: Variations in color density and contrast can be corrected with advanced tools and techniques to produce an output image of uniform density and contrast.
  • Image Cropping: Sometimes, the size of the image will be too large to make it fit the purpose for which it is intended. In such cases, it is better to make the image small without changing its scale or orientation by cropping it to an appropriate size. Cropping also corrects framing mistakes, unbalanced images, and distracted elements located at inappropriate places in the image.
  • Removing Blemishes: Advanced digital imaging techniques help to remove small blemishes, spots, sunburn and freckles.

Digital photo restoration techniques are used for brightening teeth, for make up correction, removal of wrinkles and pouches, sharpening edges, and smoothing skin tone. Color portraits can be transformed into sepia or black & white portraits with a nostalgic appeal. Glamorizing portraits improves vibrance, clarity and beauty in a subtle and natural way.
